The Copenhagen ZOO is the oldest one in Europe and with its more than 4000 animals from 240 species is one of the main attractions in the Danish capital. As any contemporary establishment the zoo uses its digital channels actively to communicate, inspire and attract visitors and investors which in its part makes their website and mobile app crucial for the organization's success and development.

The design has recently been selected to be featured by DesignRush among  The Best Zoo Web Designs by DesignRush as a part of their Best Design Trends page.


Throughout the multiple workshops with the client and in a number of phases of research the main 4 pillars of ambition for the Copenhagen ZOO project were outlined as: 

1. Increasing the animal presence visually on the website and bringing as much movement as possible across all pages.

2. Creating a unified digital design system based on the atomic design principles that would ensure consistency across pages and sub-pages.

3. Giving the website a visual refresh while simultaneously improving the overall navigation, accessibility, intuitiveness and flow for the users.

4. Creating a modular website with a CMS that would provide a high level of flexibility in the content creation phase for the client.
